Hot Oat Tea

It's been a tough winter with colds and flu in our household. Tonight we are all snowed in(again), and I stumbled across this recipe from Tosca Reno's "Eat Clean Cookbook." The description states that it is intended for "strengthening immunity and fighting cold symptoms." My only regret is that we hadn't found it earlier!

The ingredients are basic, yet powerful. The recipe is super simple. Keep it in mind the next time someone in your house isn't feeling well.

Hot Oat Tea

Ingredients:

2 Tbsp. Oats
1 Cinnamon stick
4 c. Water
1 tsp. Honey
Dash of vanilla extract

Procedure:

  1. Place oats, cinnamon and water in a small saucepan and boil. Simmer for 30 minutes.
  2.  Remove from heat and add honey. Add a small amount of vanilla. If you prefer, you may strain the oats from the liquid. Otherwise, sip as is.
**Ideally, you should aim to finish all 4 cups in one day. Otherwise, the extra can be stored in the refrigerator in a mason jar or similar
